Live Music: Rob Cannillo

A storyteller with soul...gritty, gravely and smooth. Rob Cannillo is a rising singer/songwriter whose gritty vocal stylings and distinctive Americana compositions speak from the heart, engaging thousands of listeners across the U.S.

Rob, whose music has been described by WPDH DJ Robyn Taylor as “magic” and by former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle as “killer,” is a self-taught musician who burst onto the Hudson Valley entertainment scene in the late 1990s and quickly became one of the area’s premier artists. Rob’s melodies evoke the sounds of other popular indie/Americana artists such as The Avett Brothers, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Ray LaMontagne, The Lumineers, and Amos Lee.

A life-altering brush with cancer and other defining experiences have shaped Rob into the passionate, earthy performer his devoted fans have come to love. A frequent performer at festivals and fundraisers, Rob has played a collection of renowned venues ranging from The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, The Turning Point in Piermont, NY, and The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY. Rob has opened for international recording artists including Steve Forbert, Artimus Pyle, and New Riders of the Purple Sage.
